In the world of golf, precision and strategy reign supreme, yet for Angela Garcia, the broadcast journalist wife of golf maestro Sergio Garcia, the game extends far beyond the lush greens. Co-founder of FORE KIDS ATX alongside her husband, Angela effortlessly swings between entrepreneurship and philanthropy with a finesse that matches her husband’s golfing prowess.
While Sergio aims for birdies on the course, Angela Garcia takes aim at improving the lives of young Texans through their charitable foundation. From tee-off to fundraising gala, join our Lance Avery Morgan as we explore how Angela’s drive—both on and off the green—continues to make an indelible mark, one fairway at a time. With their upcoming gala on November 1-2, themed Cirque Du Austin, you too can be a part of the magic by visiting here to attend and support.
Due to my ongoing involvement with the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation, I have found that…
Angela Garcia: Austin is a wonderfully caring and generous community and Sergio and I have been in awe of the support our foundation, event, and beneficiaries have received. I am proud to be a 7th generation Texan and we are blessed and honored to call Austin my home.
With the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation FOREKids ATX Gala, I know for certain that…
Angela Garcia: With the support of our incredible community and the passion behind our mission, we will continue to raise funds for local organizations that are helping hundreds of thousands of Texas children. Our goal is to help our community and its children as much as possible and we will continue to work extremely hard to positively impact as many lives as possible.
What’s the moment from your work with the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation that really moved you?
Angela Garcia: There have been so many incredible moments. Some that stick out are watching junior golfers discover the sport we love because of programs like ours that allow any child, no matter what their background is, to play a sport that teaches you confidence, self-love, honesty, and integrity.
I also cherish the times we have spent at Dell Children’s, Foster Village, and dozens of Texas schools. We are fortunate to get to interact one-on-one with children who need the most help and support and they have touched our lives with their smiles and joy. I will always be grateful to those children and the teachers, counselors, therapists, doctors and so many others who work tirelessly to give them the best possible care.
How is giving back and philanthropy part of the Texas spirit?
Angela Garcia: In my opinion, Texans are some of the friendliest people in the world. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that certainly applies to a Texan’s heart. Helping others comes naturally to those of us who were born in our great state and to those who got here as fast as they could.
What everyone should try in their lifetime is…
Angela Garcia: Doing what you love. Life is short and we all need to prioritize living it to the fullest and doing the things that make us happy. I’ve also never met someone who ever regretted being kind to another person or helping another person. If we help the people in our communities we make our communities a better place to live, work, play, and raise our next generations.
The beauty essential you’d have to pry out of my cold, dead hands is…
Angela Garcia: My mascara… it doesn’t matter where I’m going or what I’m doing but as long as I have on a little bit of mascara I feel like I can run the world.
On my tombstone, it will likely say…
Angela Garcia: A friend once told me my tombstone would say…A Friend To All. I would just like for people to remember me as someone who was always kind to others and helped those around me. I’m certainly not perfect but as I get older and each day passes I’m learning more and more what’s truly important!
