THE SCENE: The Fertitta family residence in River Oaks was the setting for one of the city’s most popular and anticipated fall signature fundraising events. A sold-out crowd featuring 550 of the city’s most notable community leaders, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for the 17th Annual True Blue Gala. Benefiting the Houston Police Foundation, the Back to the Future-themed night featured great food, fun, and entertainment, resulting in a seven-figure night for the organization.

THE VIBE: The blue-chic crowd featured patrons donning a mix of ensembles in various shades of blue. In the crowd, one could spot an array of cocktail dresses, denim, sport coats, and pullovers. The result was a welcoming, festive environment where everyone felt like family.
As guests walked up towards the Fertitta home, they knew they were in for a very special evening. They were greeted by the DeLorean used in the iconic 1985 film, which provided a perfect opportunity for them to pose for images to commemorate the evening.

Revelers then headed to a lively cocktail hour. Guests sipped on their favorite cocktails, with many opting for the evening’s signature cocktail, the “True Blue”, which was a blue-hued Espiritu Alumbres Plata Tequila Margarita. During the cocktail reception, guests mingled and had the opportunity to experience the Houston Police Department’s robotic K9 Hal, which allowed partygoers the chance to meet, interact with, and take selfies with him.
The festivities then proceeded to dinner and the main program. Legendary event producer Richard Flowers created a dazzling blue-scape theme that is equal parts elegant and accessible after guests grabbed their favorite items from a lavish, delectable buffet from many of Houston’s most beloved restaurants, including Landry’s Seafood House, Mastros, Grotto, La Griglia, King Ranch Texas Kitchen, and Willie G’s.

While attendees dined on their delectable meals, they were treated to words from event and city leaders, including Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz, who thanked the crowd for being a part of the special evening. The program allowed the night to literally end with a bang, courtesy of a fireworks show that illuminated the evening sky, capping off another successful event for the organization.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 17th Annual True Blue Gala, chaired by Laura Ward, raised over $1 million for the Houston Police Foundation. Proceeds raised from the event will fund special programs, officer safety, training, equipment, and new technology for the Houston Police Department.
