THE SCENE: The Post Oak Hotel was the setting for an evening of legendary glamor, music, fun, and fundraising. A crowd of nearly 500 of Space City’s most notable community leaders, medical advocates, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for “An Evening with a Legend.” Benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital, the night featured great food, conversation, impact, and show-stopping performances that lingered in the attendees’ hearts long after the final curtain call.

THE VIBE: The cocktail-attired crowd brought out their favorite semi-formal looks for a fashionable night on the town. In the crowd, one could spot a vibrant array of sport coats and cocktail dresses in nearly every color of the rainbow, along with others donning bold prints and metallics. The result was a show-worthy energy, where everyone felt welcome.

Kicking off the festivities was a lively cocktail hour. Here, after guests grabbed their favorite spirits, they could be seen mingling in the crowd, catching up with old friends and making new ones in the process.

The doors then opened, and revelers headed to their seats for dinner and the main program. More than a few jaws dropped as Blooming Gallery transformed The Post Oak ballroom into a beautiful Spring day in Manhattan, adding to the vibrant energy of the crowd.

While guests dined on their delectable, multi-course meals, they were treated to words from event and organization leaders thanking them for taking part in such a special evening. The 2026 “An Evening with a Legend” was made all the more special with the launch of the Kinder Children’s Cancer Center, a joint partnership between UT MD Anderson and Texas Children’s that showcases how Houston is on the cutting-edge of world-class care for children.

Capping off the night was a show-stopping performance by Idina Menzel. The Broadway legend frequently brought the audience to their feet as she sang many of her most notable hits, including Let It Go from Frozen and Take Me or Leave Me from Rent. The highlight of the performance was when Menzel invited Texas Children’s Hospital patients to join her in a rendition of Frozen’s Do You Want to Build a Snowman?, which barely left a dry eye in the house, and beautifully reminded the audience how their support of Texas Children’s Hospital directly and positively impacts the lives of so many children in Houston and beyond.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2026 “An Evening with a Legend,” chaired by Stephanie and Frank Tsuru, raised almost $900,000 for Texas Children’s Hospital. Proceeds from the event will go to advance research for clinical breakthroughs and elevate patient care at the Kinder Children’s Cancer Center.
