The Lifestyle Ecosystem Concept Is A Hit In Texas

By the time most young women are still figuring out how to decorate their first apartment, Dallas resident Keenan Silverman, chief creative officer of MARKET in Highland Park Village, was already shaping the future of American fashion retail. At just 19, she left her hometown roots behind for the bright lights of New York City, where she launched Alexander Wang’s flagship store in SoHo. From its sleek shelves and moody interiors, she cultivated the brand’s VIP and celebrity clientele, learning the rhythms of luxury retail from one of fashion’s most notorious enfant terribles, according to our Lance Avery Morgan, who caught up with Silverman to learn more about her retail success and stylish point of view.

That baptism by fire led to another challenge: introducing French label IRO to Manhattan. Silverman didn’t just open its first U.S. store and showroom; she laid down the best practices that would anchor the brand’s stateside identity. Hungry for more than store launches, she then took her talents globally, sharpening her styling and trend-forecasting instincts in Stockholm and Los Angeles before returning to New York to help spearhead IRO’s men’s wholesale business.

But it was in Dallas where her career found its most influential canvas. A buying role at Forty Five Ten, one of the country’s most avant-garde fashion boutiques, gave her the platform to champion American and emerging designers before expanding her purview to European names. By the time Elisa Summers tapped her to take the reins at MARKET, Silverman had already cultivated a reputation as a tastemaker with both business acumen and a stylist’s eye.

MARKET: From Boutique to Cultural Hub

Founded in 2015 by Summers, MARKET opened in Highland Park Village as a luxury boutique. With Silverman as Chief Creative Officer, it has blossomed into something far more ambitious: a concept shop and social hub that reflects how women truly want to shop today; thoughtfully, globally, and with a touch of discovery.

Silverman’s approach is a blend of curation and cultivation. She scours Paris, London, and Sydney for fresh talent, introducing Dallas shoppers to labels that are often seen first on the runways of fashion insiders rather than on department store floors. The result? A destination that feels equal parts insider gallery, salon, and wardrobe dreamscape.

But her most forward-thinking contribution is the MARKET Incubation Program. Conceived in 2019, it reimagines retail space as a springboard for emerging brands to test-drive the Texas market. The concept debuted with La Ligne, whose three-week pop-up grew into a permanent store just steps away. Since then, MARKET has incubated an enviable roster: LoveShackFancy, La Vie Style House, Kimberly McDonald, GANNI, The Last Line, and Jonathan Simkhai, all of whom leveraged MARKET’s visibility into long-term growth.

Beyond Shopping: A Lifestyle Ecosystem

MARKET isn’t just about racks of ready-to-wear or carefully arranged displays of handbags and fine jewelry. It’s an ecosystem where fashion collides with culture, philanthropy, and community. From brand events that weave into Dallas’ vibrant arts scene to initiatives that tie fashion to giving back, the store serves as a hub for women seeking individuality and connection alongside beautiful things.

Today, under Silverman’s creative direction, MARKET offers more than a shopping trip: it’s an experience, one where emerging designers find their footing and discerning customers discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream.

Silverman, who lives in Dallas with her husband and daughter, brings both a global perspective and a local devotion to her role. She understands that Dallas women have long been at the forefront of style, but they crave something fresh, personal, and modern. With MARKET, she’s delivering just that.

As the concept store continues to expand its incubator model, host dynamic cultural events, and scout talent from across the globe, one thing is clear: Keenan Silverman isn’t just shaping a store. She’s shaping the way Dallas, and by extension, the Texas fashion market, connects with the future of style.

Just in time for the holidays, MARKET has recently partnered with Nicole Richie, founder of jewelry brand House of Harlow. Richie will debut her Hathor Collection exclusively with MARKET this Friday, November 7, with an in-store appearance from 12-4 PM to meet and greet MARKET clients.

Here’s a 1:1 with Keenan Silverman to glean more from her very fashionable personality…

The best career advice I’ve received is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: “Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.”

It came from my father, a helicopter pilot who trained in Vietnam and spent his entire career flying. He loved what he did, and I remember him saying this to me when I was young. That passion for purpose has guided me ever since.

Three qualities that got me where I am today are…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: A discerning point of view, creativity, and grit.

Easiest career decision I ever made is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Moving to New York at 19, leaving Little Rock behind with no job lined up, no network; just a one-way ticket and the kind of quiet determination that only makes sense in hindsight. I knew that if I wanted a future in fashion, I had to be where fashion lived. It was fearless, slightly reckless, and completely right.

Due to my ongoing involvement with retail, I have found that…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: You have to lead with a clear point of view and trust your instincts. You simply can’t be everything to everyone, and when you try, you lose your edge.

What is influencing me right now at MARKET is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: The same thing that has always influenced me: discovering emerging talent and introducing it to Texas through a lens that’s thoughtful, unexpected, and elevated.

The pop-up world of retail, like at MARKET, offers my clientele…

At Victoria Beckham.com

KEENAN SILVERMAN: More than just shopping; it’s an inside look into the soul of a brand. Our pop-ups and residencies bring the full experience to life, giving clients the chance to explore every detail, product, and story that defines it.

The MARKET woman is someone who…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Embodies effortless sophistication: culturally engaged, instinctively stylish, confidently ambitious, and guided by a philanthropic spirit.

What I’m eying this fall as a must-have at MARKET is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Victoria Beckham, specifically, a full gray runway look: sleeveless knit top, drop-waist straight-leg trousers, and a Savetta handbag in Mist. It’s timeless, tailored, and just the right amount of cool.

How I made my first dollar…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Teaching summer camp at The Boys and Girls Club.

First music I bought was…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: *NSYNC. Obviously. A cultural reset.

Whenever I hear a Yacht Rock song, I immediately…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Sing “Brandy, you’re a fine girl” and remind myself that while I love the idea of a yacht, I definitely prefer solid ground.

Last thing I binge/marathon watched…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: We Were Liars. It is wild, addictive, and just so good.

Book that left a lasting impression on me…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Capote’s Women. I read it while I was pregnant, and my daughter’s middle name is Slim as a result.

On that note, my favorite fiction character is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Does Nathan Lane in The Birdcage count?

My real-life hero has got to be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: My husband. He is the calm to my crazy and the yes to my “I was just thinking…” He has as many hours in the day as Beyoncé and yet somehow still manages to never miss dinner, bath, or bedtime with our little one.

If I lived in a foreign city, it would be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Actually, not a city for me. I’m aiming for a private Caribbean island where the water’s warm, the kids are barefoot, and the only traffic jam is a flock of flamingos. Branson’s got the luxury of island life down to an art form.

What everyone should try in their lifetime is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: An unexpected act of kindness at least once, maybe even twice. You never know how far that little ripple can go.

If I could compete in an Olympic sport, or create one, it would be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Speed styling. Give me ten minutes and a rolling rack, and I’ll win gold.

If I weren’t doing what I do I would (be a…)…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: A creative director for an interiors brand or a hotelier on said island. Think: barefoot luxury meets curated calm.

A celebrity I would prank phone call, and what I would ask them is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: I’d love to chat with Martha Stewart. Rather than prank her, I would probably invite her over to discuss my garden, Snoop DO double G, and whether she did in fact know about the trade.

My hidden talent that most people might not guess is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: I have a photographic memory. I can walk through a space once and recall exactly where everything is, even six weeks later. I can also fully style a shoot or outfit someone based on a single photo of a rack or their closet. My friends love that one. It’s like visual Tetris… with really good shoes.

If I had a superpower, I’d want it to be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: The ability to snap my fingers and be instantly ready: fully dressed, hair and makeup done to perfection, and ready to go. Just imagine the time saved. I love getting dressed… not so much a fan of “getting ready,” though.

A simple way to get people to laugh is easy. Just…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Master the well-timed side-eye. Comedy is all in the delivery.

A phrase I might overuse would be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: I have a thought…(Followed by a full brand strategy.)

My motto? Easy. It is…

Less is more. More or less.

Favorite scent these days is (because)…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: My favorite scent for nearly a decade now is Frédéric Malle’s Portrait of a Lady. It’s timeless. The perfect balance of velvety rose and smoky patchouli gives it a bold, feminine edge that lingers all day. It’s more than a fragrance; it’s a vibe.

My style icon is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Somewhere between Pernille Teisbaek’s cool minimalism, Gilda Ambrosio’s fearless edge, and Princess Diana’s iconic off-duty elegance. A blend of modern, unexpected, and timeless.

My personal style signifier is…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: A sleek, slicked-back bun and bare lashes. It’s minimal, intentional, and just the right amount of undone.

The classic designer I wish was still designing today would be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. He is forever the epitome of classic elegance and irreverent cool. No one could turn tradition into modern magic quite like he did.

In my fridge, you will always find…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: French butter, berries for the baby, and at least three kinds of sparkling water.

The last meal that truly impressed me was…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: A night at Thomas Keller’s Surf Club in Miami. We ordered everything on the menu; a decadent move made even better by the incredible group at the table (a mix of old friends and new faces). One friend brought some unforgettable reds to pair with the courses, and the beef Wellington… I’m still dreaming about it. The kind of meal you measure others against.

My perfect day would end…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: With a glass of full-bodied red, lots of baby snuggles, and my husband in the kitchen making his signature Hot Lips Shrimp.

The title of my autobiography will likely be…

KEENAN SILVERMAN: Whirling & Twirling: Fashion, Fantasy, And The Art Of Disappearing Gracefully. Not that I’ve thought about it… like at all… ever.
