Her studio is tucked away just enough to feel like a secret, and stepping inside is like walking into a mood board brought to life, with motorcycles, cow hides, and her amazing artwork, plus that particular kind of chaos that only makes sense in the hands of an artist. I even picked up one of her originals for the dining room at home, which fit perfectly in the back of the Lexus GX 550, and Karah bought one of Laura’s custom-painted work gloves.

Just around the corner, we popped in to visit Marla Hurley of Modern Marla, another woman carving her own path in fashion and design. Her curated pieces blend sophistication with Texas edge. It would be easy to get in trouble at Marla’s, because where else can you shop vintage Chanel and Westernwear under one roof?

The heart of Round Top is always the treasure hunt, and even though I’ve made this trip more times than I can count, it never gets old. We wandered the tents and barns, stopping to admire reclaimed wood tables, Turkish rugs, and too many vintage oil paintings to count.
