THE SCENE: The Austin Club, in the heart of downtown, was the setting for an afternoon celebrating the Capital City’s history. Approximately 300 business leaders, history enthusiasts, and philanthropists arrived for the Angelina Eberly Luncheon. Hosted by the Austin History Center Association, the jam-packed afternoon was filled with community, touching speeches, and honoring community leaders who have made a mark on the city.

THE VIBE: The business-chic attire featured an array of traditional business suits and dresses, with others taking advantage of the beautiful spring day by donning prints and bold colors. The result was a warm reflection that perfectly encapsulated Austin’s diverse nature and the patrons of the event.

The afternoon began with a welcome reception in The Austin Club ballroom. Old friends reconnected and new friends were made as guests sipped champagne, wine, and assorted non-alcoholic beverages. Some took to the step and repeat to take a photo with friends to commemorate the occasion.

Guests then made their way to their seats for the main program. As guests dined on their meals, they were treated to words from organization and event leaders thanking them for their support of the organization over the years.

During the program, Martha Hertzog presented the inaugural Sue Brandt McBee Living Legacy Award to acclaimed designer and preservationist Sinclair Black for his lifetime commitment to preserving Austin’s soul. The afternoon was capped off with words from Bob McBee, son of the late Sue Brandt McBee, who was a founding member of the organization and the key component of its ongoing success today.
THE NON-PROFIT: The Angelina Eberly Luncheon, chaired by Charles Peveto, raised over $100,000 for the Austin History Center Association. Proceeds from the event will go towards education and preservation initiatives to share Austin’s rich and diverse history, which highlights the city’s impact on Texas, the nation, and the world since its founding in 1839.

The Annual Angelina Eberly Luncheon supporting the Austin History Center Association is always such an enjoyable occasion. This year’s event was especially memorable with fun entertainment by Esther’s Follies, a delectable menu of wonderful cuisine, gorgeous floral centerpieces, presentation of the Sue Brandt McBee Living Legacy Award honoring Sinclair Black and the heartfelt words of Bob McBee about his inspirational mother. The historic Austin Club was the perfect venue for the occasion.
