THE SCENE: On a warm, pleasant evening, approximately 175 of Austin’s most notable music patrons, artists, sociables, and philanthropists descended upon the beautiful new grounds of Assembly Hall for an evening of fun, community, and music. Guests were on hand for Hidden Music, benefiting Conspirare. The event’s theme, “Soul Radiance,” oozed through the space, and revelers were treated to a fantastic evening with a dazzling concert by 11-time Grammy-award-winning composer Craig Hella Johnson.

THE VIBE: The event featured Concert-chic attire. One could find sport coats, sun dresses, denim, black, and floral prints in the crowd to celebrate spring. The result was a warm, soulful environment for everyone who attended.
The evening began with a cocktail reception on the Assembly Hall terrace. After guests cozied up to the bar to grab their favorite spirit or beverage, they mingled with other partygoers who brimmed with anticipation of the fun festivities ahead. Others could be seen perusing an impressive lot of silent auction items full of curated luxury experiences. Guests then headed inside to find their seats for the main program.

Once inside, the patrons found an elegant space ready for a night of community and music. Each table in the room was adorned with blue tablecloths, which complemented the groups of low-profile votives, creating a sophisticated and welcoming space for guests.

As guests dined on a delectable, French-inspired family-style meal courtesy of Cameron Lockley of Flavor Hospitality Group, emcee Dorothy O’Shea Overby kept the festivities moving at a fun, brisk pace throughout the night. The program started with words from the organization and event leaders thanking them for participating in a special night.

Other program highlights included words from acclaimed author Paula D’Arcy, who inspired guests with her connection to Conspirare and the power of music to shape and positively change people’s lives. Additionally, Richard and Susanna Finnell were honored for their longstanding support of the organization.

Next came a spirited live auction and a Fund-A-Need. The paddles and the fundraising increased as bidders sought an array of luxury items and experiences with an Aspen Summer Trip, an Antigua Getaway, and dinner at the home of Conspirare Founder Craig Hella Johnson and his husband Phillip Overbaugh emerging as the most popular.
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly Craig Hella Johnson‘s concert. Against the backdrop of a stunning big board filled with rotating bright colors and patterns, guests were mesmerized by this legendary, talented performer. To further connect with guests, Conspirare asked attendees in advance for their favorite song that makes them happy, which Johnson incorporated into various song medleys that made the room feel as one.

The night was capped off with an after-party. Guests returned to the patio to enjoy the beautiful spring air and delectable, sweet bites, capping off a lovely night of fun, music, and community.
THE NON-PROFIT: Hidden Music 2025: Soul Radiance raised $230,000 for Conspirare. Proceeds from the event will go toward the organization’s programs and world-class musical performances, which fulfill its mission to provide performing arts and music education in the belief that music can change lives, inspire peace, and foster belonging.
