THE SCENE: The Night at the Museum gala is one of Dallas’ most imaginative annual events, and the 2025 edition transformed the Perot Museum of Nature and Science into a luminous, after-hours world of exploration. This year, the gala honored the vision and generosity of a founding family from the natural resources space, inspiring a theme that mirrored the spirit of their industry: wind, water, and air, and set the stage for a night where Alchemy begins.

The transformation was evident from the moment guests arrived. Color-washed lighting played across the building’s angular exterior, giving the Perot Museum an ethereal glow and signaling an evening that would blend sophistication with curiosity. Over 10,000 biodegradable balloons formed the Perot Museum’s iconic platinum welcome tunnel by Helio, creating an immediate “wow” moment and a photo-ready first impression. Inside, fluid, monochromatic blue palettes infused with silver elements guided the décor across all four floors, creating a cohesive environment that stirred and energized more than 800 attendees. Every corner offered a surprise, whether a culinary moment, a hands-on activation, or a custom keepsake from the laser engraving station by The Social Production.

Partner contributions from Jackson Durham and Party! Dallas added layers of design detail, making the evening feel both spectacular and intimate. The environment felt part science experiment, part immersive installation, and entirely entertaining. The Perot Museum’s permanent exhibits served as a living stage for the evening. Dinosaurs towered over champagne toasts, crystal formations sparkled beside cocktail tables, and sports science displays beckoned guests to test reflexes or explore interactive updates.

The VIP Reception in the newly refreshed Moody Family Children’s Museum set a lively tone, featuring a live DJ sporting a toy figure mask. During the main event, live musicians created a relaxed backdrop as guests sampled Temari sushi, crystal chive dumplings, and fried chicken topped with caviar. Wolfgang Puck Catering extended this sensory journey throughout the Perot Museum, with creations like “The Motion of Mac,” a sculptural take on macaroni and cheese echoing the kinetic exhibits, and the Living Crudité Bar, a colorful landscape of fresh produce that resembled a natural-history display. The Off the Bone carving station served as an aromatic anchor point, drawing guests together in moments of shared delight.

Décor enhancements included warm candlelight, suspended greenery, soft uplighting, and reflective surfaces, bringing the Perot Museum to life without overwhelming the exhibits. The overall effect was elegant yet approachable, encouraging guests to wander freely and discover new moods and visual personalities on each floor. Night at the Museum 2025 succeeded by creating an environment where exploration, connection, and wonder were at the forefront.

THE VIBE: The atmosphere at Night at the Museum is what makes the event distinct from traditional galas, and the 2025 edition delivered the lively, food-focused, high-energy feel that returning guests look forward to each year. The crowd itself became an essential part of the experience, creating an environment that felt enthusiastic, joyful, and deeply connected to the Perot Museum’s mission.

This year’s gala was chaired by Shelly and Michael Dee, whose leadership brought warmth and personal significance to the evening. Honorary chairs Sally and Forrest Hoglund, Shelly’s parents and two of the Perot Museum’s founding donors, added emotional resonance. Their decades-long role in helping shape the Perot Museum was evident in conversations throughout the galleries, and many guests took the opportunity to greet them and express appreciation.

The “wander and explore” format encouraged constant movement and interactions. Guests drifted between floors, stopping to sample chicken pot pies or test an interactive exhibit, then regrouping with friends in another part of the Perot Museum. Entertainment was a highlight, bringing the evening’s theme to life. Party On The Moon® delivered an electric performance over the 30-foot round dance floor—designed to echo the Perot Museum’s iconic globe logo—making guests feel as if they were “dancing on water.” Popstarz, the high-energy dance troupe known for their surprise musical numbers, brought the crowd to life during the transition to the afterparty, keeping energy high and the experience memorable.

A highlight of the evening was the return of the 10-Minute Restaurant, a pop-up dining experience by Wolfgang Puck Catering hidden in the Perot Museum gift shop. Guests were treated to an intimate, multi-course tasting that transformed a retail space into a fine-dining surprise, and many attendees cited it as a favorite part of the night. Signature cocktails, also by Wolfgang Puck Catering, further enhanced the immersive atmosphere. The sparkling Aqua Pearl shimmered like gems in the Lyda Hill exhibit, while the Sorbete de Sangria de Cava offered a bright, refreshing note.

As always, the event drew many familiar Dallas names. Among the guests spotted throughout the Perot Museum were Dr. Linda Silver, Margo Perot, Emily and David Corrigan, Marlene and John Sughrue, Lyda Hill, Ellen and Paul Flowers, Catalina and Santiago Jorba, Hamilton A Sneed, Kate Marie Grinold Sigfusson and Steve Sigfusson, Lora Farris, Sarah and Derek Ring, Mary and David Henderson, the Hoglund family, and a wide range of community leaders whose support helps drive the Perot Museum’s work forward.

The overall vibe blended community spirit, culinary discovery, and a genuine appreciation for the Perot Museum’s purpose. Guests enjoyed an elevated evening while reconnecting with the curiosity that defines the Perot Museum. It felt both glamorous and inviting, with a mood that encouraged everyone to relax, explore, and celebrate the role science plays in shaping future generations.

THE NON-PROFIT: While Night at the Museum is known for its imaginative format and culinary creativity, its true purpose is to support the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and the community it serves. The Perot Museum is one of Texas’ most influential educational institutions, reaching hundreds of thousands of children and families each year through hands-on exhibits, programming, and outreach.

The Perot Museum’s 2025 Night at the Museum Gala raised more than $2 million for the organization’s financial aid programs. These funds make science education accessible to communities that may otherwise face barriers to participation. Support from Night at the Museum allows the Perot Museum to offer field trips for schools across the region, deliver outreach programs directly into classrooms and community centers, and provide discounted admission and memberships for families.

The Perot Museum’s mission is to inspire minds through nature and science. Its research, educational programs, and partnerships help build scientific literacy across North Texas, offering tools that spark imagination and encourage discovery.

Night at the Museum is essential in fueling that mission. The fundraising it generates helps ensure the Perot Museum remains an inclusive institution with the resources to welcome every learner. The 2025 Night at the Museum Gala captured this purpose with clarity. It was an evening filled with joy, artistry, and exploration, but it also served as a potent reminder that philanthropy can transform lives.
