THE SCENE: The Wortham Theater Center for the Performing Arts in Houston was the recent setting for one of Space City’s most fun, entertaining, and impactful annual fundraising events. A sold-out crowd featuring several hundred of the area’s most notable art patrons, theater lovers, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for the 2026 Kaleidoscope Ball. Benefiting Performing Arts Houston, the event featured a “Saudade de Lisboa“-themed night that those fortunate enough to be a part of will not soon forget.

THE VIBE: The black-tie crowd brought its sartorial A-Game. In the crowd, one could spot traditional formal wear with those who donned an array of bold colors, prints, metallics, and sequins. The result was an ensemble of outfits that blended seamlessly, making everyone feel welcome.

As guests entered the Wortham for the cocktail hour, one could feel the vibrancy and energy in the air. After taking step-and-repeat photos to commemorate the evening, patrons headed to the bar to grab their favorite spirit. As guests mingled about the room, they could see special touches inspired by Lisbon throughout the space that gave the space an added aura of authenticity.

The crowd then headed to their seats for dinner and the main program. The Wortham was transformed into an elegant space, featuring white linens that perfectly complemented votives and low-profile floral décor, encouraging revelers to engage with all their tablemates. Adding a bit of elegance were chandeliers covered in Portuguese-inspired tiles, ensconced throughout the space, giving the space an added aura of European elegance.

As revelers dined on their delectable, multi-course meals courtesy of City Kitchen Catering, they were treated to words from event and organization leaders. Each thanked them for their patronage, support, and for being part of such a special evening. The highlight of the program was honoring Houston philanthropists Ginni and Richard Mithoff for their long-standing, tireless support of Performing Arts Houston.

The night was capped off with an energetic, lively after-party. Revelers packed the dance floor as they cut a rug to their favorite tunes courtesy of DJ Cory Green and live music from Breakfast at Tiffany’s that ensured the fun continued into the wee hours of the morning.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2026 Kaleidoscope Ball: Saudade de Lisboa, chaired by Windy and Warwick King, raised over $700,000 for Performing Arts Houston. Proceeds raised from the event will go towards creating world-class artistic performances for Houstonians to enjoy.
