Houston finds itself in rarefied company again. In a landmark moment for art and fashion lovers alike, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, welcomes Louvre Couture, an extraordinary exhibition that brings the world’s most celebrated museum into elegant conversation with haute couture. Set within the MFAH’s storied galleries, the exhibition reveals fashion not as ornament, but as art, where centuries-old masterpieces and iconic couture designs meet, converse, and captivate in a visual dialogue as timeless as it is thrilling.
It’s perhaps the most extraordinary art and fashion experience in Houston this season. The landmark Louvre Couture Exhibition, presenting couture from one of the world’s most celebrated museums, can now be admired in the halls of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The Louvre Museum has long stood as a symbol of artistic mastery, housing centuries of exquisite treasures that have shaped visual culture around the world. This spring, the museum shifts its gaze to fashion, revealing just how much couture and high fashion draw from the Louvre’s historic collections. The result is Louvre Couture, an exhibition that converges art history and fashion and celebrates timeless design.

The exhibition presents fashion not merely as design but as art. Louvre Couture features 36 fashion ensembles installed throughout the museum’s galleries, drawn from the renowned debut of Louvre Couture—Art and Fashion: Statement Pieces, the first-ever fashion exhibition presented by the Louvre Museum. The installation assembles designs from historic and contemporary fashion houses, pairing them with masterpieces from the MFAH’s collections and select art loans from the Louvre.

Visitors are encouraged to explore Louvre Couture through a self-guided journey across the Beck and Kinder Buildings. Highlights of the collection include iconic designs from legacy houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, and Vivienne Westwood. Additionally, visitors can expect to be captivated by works from some of this century’s most influential designers, including Jacquemus, Thom Browne, Erdem, and Iris Van Herpen.

Among the most compelling pieces of the collection is Yves Saint Laurent’s 1965 Robe Mondrian, which is paired with Piet Mondrian’s 1918 Composition with Grid #1 from the MFAH collections. Additional highlights include a 17th-century Longcase Clock with Givenchy’s 1990-91 Pantsuit, as well as the 18th-century folding screen Biombo with Views of Mexico City, with a 1990 ensemble by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

Since its premiere, Louvre Couture has received extensive acclaim, drawing visitors from near and far eager to experience the striking collection. The exhibition’s pairing of couture with masterworks from the museum’s collections has been a smashing success thus far. Open through March 15th, 2026, Louvre Couture invites guests to explore this extraordinary intersection of creativity and craftsmanship. For anyone with an appreciation for fashion or design, this is a must-see exhibition. Tickets are available through the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston website.
