THE SCENE: The Hilton Americas-Houston was the setting for a night of fun, fundraising, and community. Several hundred of the area’s most notable community leaders, advocates, sociables, and philanthropists attended the 2025 Gift of Compassion gala. Benefiting the Salvation Army of Greater Houston, the night featured great food, conversation, and honoring a local legend.

THE VIBE: The cocktail-attired crowd showed off a festive array of ensembles, putting everyone in the spirit of giving. In the crowd, one could spot cocktail dresses, ballgowns, and suits in a range of colors, with most opting for blacks, metallics, and reds, which served as a nod to the Salvation Army’s brand colors. The result was a warm, welcoming environment for all who attended.

Kicking off the night was a lively cocktail hour. After cozying up to the bar to grab their favorite spirit, guests mingled with the crowd, catching up with old friends and making new ones.

The action then moved to the Hilton Americas-Houston Ballroom for the dinner and main program. As guests dined on their multi-course meals, they were treated to words from event and organization leaders thanking them for being a part of such a memorable evening.

The highlight of the night was honoring a person and an organization for their tireless support of the Salvation Army of Greater Houston over the years. The Corporate Honoree was presented to The CenterPoint Energy Foundation. Next, Houston Astros legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell was awarded as the 2025 Community Honoree, who gave a touching speech that moved and entertained the crowd. His words capped off a successful night for the gala.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2025 Gift of Compassion Gala, chaired by Deborah Duncan of KHOU’s Great Day Houston, raised over $1 million for the Salvation Army of Greater Houston. Proceeds from the event will support programs that serve individuals and families in need in the greater Houston area, including shelter, disaster services, adult rehabilitation, and summer camps.
