THE SCENE: A beautiful afternoon at Le Tesserae in Houston was the setting for one of Space City’s most beloved and anticipated fall fundraising events with a new twist. Several hundred of the area’s top community leaders, animal lovers, sociables, and philanthropists were on hand for the “Fierce & Fabulous Le Brunch.”

Benefiting Houston PetSet, the successor to the wildly popular “Fierce & Fabulous Soirée” did not disappoint, delivering a beautiful afternoon of great food, company, and an impressive fundraising haul for the organization.

THE VIBE: The brunch-chic attire had people donning their finest Sunday cocktail attire. In the crowd, one could spot women in sundresses and cocktail dresses in pastels, bold colors, prints, and metallics, while the men sported their favorite blazers, open-collared suits, and traditional cocktail attire. The result was a warm welcome environment where everyone was as happy as special guest Max, the H-town Husky.

The afternoon began with a cocktail reception. Here, guests mingled in the La Tesserae ballroom foyer, spilling onto the stunning terrace brimming with anticipation of the fun that lay ahead. During the cocktail reception, many could be seen perusing the impressive lot of silent auction items up for bid.

Revelers then took to their seats for the afternoon’s main program. Great Day Houston Host Deborah Duncan served as emcee, keeping the afternoon moving at a fun, brisk, and entertaining pace. As guests dined on their delectable meals, they were treated to words from organization, event, and community leaders who thanked them for being part of a memorable afternoon that launched a new signature fundraising event tradition for the organization.

The afternoon was capped off with a special appearance by acting legend and singer Billy Bob Thornton. Thornton dazzled and charmed the crowd, leaving guests wanting more and grateful to have been part of an afternoon that launched the newest fundraising chapter for the beloved organization.

THE NON-PROFIT: The inaugural Fierce & Fabulous Le Brunch, hosted by Co-Presidents Tama Lundquist and Tena Lundquist Faust and event co-chair Kirby Matocha Edmund, raised nearly $1 million for PetSet. Proceeds from the event will be used to issue grants to local shelters and rescue organizations, providing much-needed funding to almost 100 animal-focused nonprofits in the Houston area.
