THE SCENE: The Jesse H. Jones Center for the Performing Arts in Houston was the setting for one of Space City’s most anticipated annual events with a mix of food, wine, and philanthropy. A sold-out crowd featuring 350 of the city’s most notable wine lovers, foodies, sociables, art patrons, and philanthropists turned out for the annual Houston Symphony Wine Dinner & Collectors Auction.

THE VIBE: The black tie-attired crowd featured a mix of classic tuxedos and ballgowns along with a rainbow of ensembles featuring colors and bright prints which created a welcoming environment for all who attended. The night began with a cocktail reception where guests mingled while sampling light bites while perusing the impressive array of wines up for auction with something for every pallet. During the cocktail hour, revelers also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a collection of “hard to find” bourbons.

Partygoers then heard dinner chimes which meant it was time for the scrumptious dinner that beckoned. As guests took to their seats, they were greeted by gorgeous French-inspired centerpieces that featured roses of multiple hues and candelabras.

Chef Aaron Blourdon created a four-course feast, each paired with wines chosen by John and Lindy Rydman and Lisa Rydman Lindsey of Spec’s Wines. The result was an unforgettable night of great food, fabulous wines, and amazing conversation that carried well into the night.

THE NON-PROFIT: The Houston Symphony Wine Dinner and Collectors Auction, co-chaired by Nancy and Bryan Ruez, with Collector’s Auction Chair Jack Matzer, raised over $850,000 for the Houston Symphony. Proceeds raised from the event will benefit the organization’s Education and Community Engagement programs that serve Houstonians in schools, hospitals, and other venues throughout the area.
