THE SCENE: Several top destinations in Austin including the JW Marriott, Westlake Country Club, and Lions Municipal Golf Course were the settings for two days of fundraising for a worthy cause. Several hundred of the area’s top community leaders, medical advocates, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for The One Party hosted by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Southern Texas Chapter.
THE VIBE: The highlight of the two days was the gala, where several hundred guests donned their most fun cocktail ensembles that featured a fun mix of bold colors, prints, and classic cocktail fare. The fun began in the foyer outside the JW Marriott Ballroom for a lively cocktail hour. Here, guests sipped on their favorite spirits, mingled with other guests, and perused an impressive lot of live and silent auction items the Kym Warner Bluegrass Duo played tunes that added to the fun spirit of the event.
The action then moved to the JW Marriott Ballroom for the evening’s main program. As guests dined on their multi-course meals, they were treated to words from event leaders as well as touching testimonial videos that showcase the great work JDRF does to positively impact the lives of those impacted by Type 1 Diabetes. Next came a spirited live auction where the bidding was driven up by a series of dazzling items with trips to Croatia, Cabo San Lucas, and an 11-week-old mini-Goldendoodle puppy being among the most popular. The night was capped off with an after-party where revelers danced the night away to the tunes of The Haywire Band.
THE NON-PROFIT: The One Party, chaired by Dawn Bosland, raised over $1.7 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Funds raised from the event will go towards ongoing medical research initiatives to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, a condition that affects over 2 million Americans.
