THE SCENE: Austin’s ZACH Theatre was the backdrop for one of the city’s most creative, fun, and uniquely artistic galas of the year. Several hundred of the city’s top art lovers, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for the annual Red, Hot & Soul gala, ZACH Theatre’s signature fundraising event. The night’s theme, The Prom, was a playful tribute to the recent Broadway production, infusing the evening with a youthful spirit that resonated with everyone who attended.
THE VIBE: The “prom chic” attire featured an eclectic mix of ensembles, creating a welcoming environment for all attendees. Vintage black tie and bright colors further added to the fun and vibrancy of the night. The festivities started in the Topfer Theatre foyer for a cocktail hour, where guests could sip on classic spiked punch and have their image taken on a throne for the prom kings and queen attendees to commemorate the evening. The festivities then moved to the tent on the Bobbi Pavilion for the evening’s main program, which started with words from the organization’s leaders, event chair, and community leaders, including Austin Mayor Kirk Watson. During the event, guests were treated to performance numbers of various ZACH Theater productions as well as performances from children of the ZACH Academy theatre troupe. The program also featured a live auction and Fund-A-Need. Revelers then gathered on the stage of the Topfer Theatre for a lively after party, where they danced the night away to iconic songs of today and yesteryear, capping off a night of fun where everyone became reacquainted with their inner teen spirit.
THE NON-PROFIT: The Red, Hot & Soul gala was chaired by Julie Williams, who was instrumental in raising funds for ZACH Theatre. Proceeds from the event will support programming and educational initiatives furthering the organization’s mission of providing exceptional theatre experiences that inspire and engage the Austin community.
