THE SCENE: The Palmer Events Center in Austin was the recent setting for the 81st annual Helping Hand Home Crystal Ball. The Capital City’s most widely attended gala each year, the event drew over 2,000 guests of all ages for a night of fun and philanthropy that those fortunate enough to be a part of will not soon forget.

THE VIBE: The black-tie crowd featured men sporting a fun mix of tuxedos, with the women wearing chic ballgowns of all colors that perfectly complimented the approximately three dozen debutantes donning their white ensemble. The festivities began with a cocktail reception where partygoers mingled while sipping on their favorite spirits and finding their favorite item to bid at the silent auction that offered an impressive mix of bespoke experiences and luxury items.

Revelers then took to their seats for the presentation ball. Around the room, one could see many tables of multi-generational family members, adding an added sense of warmth that was felt throughout the room. KXAN Meteorologist Jim Spencer served as emcee keeping the festivities flowing at a brisk, fun pace. As guests dined on their meals, they were treated to the presentation ball where each of the debs walked down the runway with their escorts.

Upon completion of the presentation, the action moved to the dance floor for the after-party. Revelers could be seen dancing well into the night to classic and current music tunes, with many parents taking the opportunity to dance with those who took part in the presentation, capping off a remarkable evening of fun and family.

THE NON-PROFIT: The event, co-chaired by Jennifer Ramberg and Kerianne Oliver, raised $2.076 million for Helping Hand Home. Since its founding in 1893, Helping Hand Home has provided a safe haven for children healing from neglect, abandonment, and abuse. Proceeds raised from the event will go towards funding the organization’s services including therapeutic residential treatment, foster care program, and family support initiatives.
