THE SCENE: The JW Marriott in Austin was the recent setting for a night of great fun and philanthropy for a very worthy cause that was the final major event of the spring social season in Texas’ Capital City. The 11th annual Art Bra® Austin drew over 550 of Central Texas’ notable community leaders, sociables, and philanthropists who were treated to an unforgettable evening that included touching tributes and culminated in an inspiring fashion show unlike any other in Texas.
THE VIBE: This year’s theme, Museum Nights, provided an interactive setting for those in attendance to experience the art, history, science, and culture of the United States during the course of the evening. The cocktail-chic crowd could feel this from the moment they arrived at the foyer outside of the JW Marriott ballroom for a VIP cocktail. Guests were able to sip on their favorite spirit of choice while mingling with other partygoers. The festivities then moved to the ballroom of the JW Marriott for the evening’s program. As patrons dined on a delicious, multi-course meal they were treated to a mission presentation as well as a series of touching tributes including a memorial wardrobe installation for Lyndsay Maclin Woods, who sadly lost her battle to the disease in the weeks preceding Art Bra®. Next, came a spirited live auction and paddles up that included a Legacy Gift in the form of a $90,000 dollar-for-dollar match by the family of the late Glenda Embry.
The evening was capped off with the main event: the Art Bra® Austin Fashion Show. Here, dozens of breast cancer survivors served as client models who rocked the runway in fashionable bras and corseted outfits. The inspiring show brought the crowd to its feet celebrating and capped off an incredible evening of fun that those fortunate enough to be a part of will always remember.
THE NON-PROFIT: Art Bra® Austin raised over $630,000 for the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC). Serving Central Texas since 1995, BCRC empowers those impacted by breast cancer through personalized support and compassion. The organization achieves this through a network of breast cancer survivors, known as Certified Patient Navigators, who empower those touched by breast cancer to become their own healthcare advocates by providing guidance, education, and support systems.
