THE SCENE: The Clay Family Eastern Glades at Memorial Park was the setting for one of Space City’s most anticipated and successful al fresco fundraising events. An electric crowd featuring 500 of the area’s most notable nature lovers, community leaders, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for “The Park Ball.” Benefiting the Memorial Park Conservancy, the night featured a touching tribute while honoring one of Houston’s most beloved community leaders, resulting in a seven-figure fundraising haul for the organization.

THE VIBE: The spring-chic crowd featured a beautiful mix of semi-formal attire. In the crowd, one could spot pastels, bold colors, and prints in seemingly every color, a thriving garden. The result was a happy, festive environment where everyone was encouraged to have a great time.

Starting off the night was a beautiful cocktail hour to take in the beautiful Spring air. Here, guests sipped their favorite spirits, enjoying the majestic grounds while mingling with others, catching up with old friends, and making new ones.

As guests entered the cathedral-style, clear-paneled tent on the Clay Family Eastern Glades grounds for dinner and the main program, many jaws dropped to the floor. The Events Company transformed the space into a stunning garden oasis that seamlessly integrated the natural beauty of the park’s many trees and native blooms. This also allowed guests to look up at the stars as day turned into night.

During the program, as guests enjoyed an exquisite, multi-course meal courtesy of City Kitchen Catering, they heard words from event and organization leaders. During the program, revelers were asked to look under their seats, with one lucky person at each table winning a special prize courtesy of the Astros Golf Foundation and Memorial Park Conservancy.

The highlight of the program was honoring Houston Astros owner and philanthropist Jim Crane, his wife Whitney Crane, and the Astros Golf Foundation for their longtime support and generosity, which have enabled millions to enjoy the natural beauty of Memorial Park, which perfectly captures the soul of Houston as a welcoming city. Houston Groove Society capped off the night with live entertainment that dazzled the crowd and left them eager to secure tickets to 2027’s The Park Ball.

THE NON-PROFIT: The Park Ball, chaired by Emily Clay, Bill Schneidau and Mary Kay and Brandt Bowden, raised $1,040,000 for the Memorial Park Conservancy. Proceeds from the event will go toward funding the day-to-day care and support of the 1,100-plus-acre urban forest, savanna, and prairie in the heart of Houston.
