Last August, Curated Texan introduced readers to Camp Lucy, the 282-acre Hill Country retreat in Dripping Springs, in the gateway to the Hill Country, where globally inspired architecture meets Texas charm. Earlier this year, Camp Lucy unveiled Folklore, a new wellness destination and social spa experience built around the idea that healing happens best in color, and in the company of others. Adjacent to the resort’s main grounds, Folklore introduces 13 new Folly rooms and suites, alongside 13,000 square feet of indoor spa space and 7,000 square feet of outdoor terrace, making it one of the most substantial additions to Camp Lucy since it opened.
Folklore’s design is the work of owner Kim Hanks and British interior designer Charlotte Smiley, and it shows in every detail. Guests enter through a threshold framed by towering, century-old ironwood columns before stepping into interiors layered with vibrant wallpapers and textural fabrics from GP&J Baker, House of Hackney, and Brunschwig & Fils, hand-sourced antiques gathered from markets around the world, and handmade accent tiles from Mexico. The result feels less like a spa and more like a welcoming, lived-in home, with lounge areas where guests are encouraged to sip tea between treatments or walk barefoot across handwoven rugs toward the bar and kitchen.

“Folklore is designed to feel like an inviting home – comfortable, expressive, and lived-in,” says Kim Hanks, co-owner of Whim Hospitality. “We wanted to create a space where wellness isn’t an escape, but a part of daily life, shared with others and infused with meaning.”

Across Folklore’s 11 treatment rooms, the menu leans into that same color-driven philosophy, featuring skincare from Natura Bissé and Irene Forte alongside facials, massages, body rituals, and energy therapies. Guests can book hydrafacials, Himalayan stone massages, lymphatic therapies, CBD-infused bodywork, and seasonal full-day experiences, with meditation, sound therapy, and movement classes rounding out the offerings. Treatments are led by a mix of in-house therapists and visiting facilitators known for their work in somatic healing and slow beauty.

The full-service locker rooms carry the same residential warmth, with a blow-dry bar stocked with Dyson hairdryers on the women’s side and a private sauna tucked into the men’s. In the holistic relaxation room, guests can slip on Dyson headsets for immersive soundscapes designed to quiet the mind. Outdoors, a heated pool, hot tub, and spacious co-ed sauna overlook the Hill Country, with an outdoor shower framed by native stone connecting guests to shaded lounge chairs, private cabanas, and the social bar.

Folklore’s kitchen and bar serve plant-forward, nutrient-rich dishes with Mediterranean and Asian influences, alongside adaptogenic smoothies, botanical teas, and non-alcoholic herbal spritzers. It’s a menu built around the idea of “eating the rainbow,” where a turmeric lentil bowl between treatments or a citrus and lavender spritzer after yoga feels just as intentional as the color on the walls.
Daily programming at Folklore includes yoga, Tai Chi, guided forest walks, sound healing, and art workshops, and, beginning this spring, the spa introduced a series of multi-day wellness retreats focused on balance and restoration. For those staying overnight, Folly Rooms start at $1,049 and Folly Suites at $1,249, both including a $250 spa credit and $80 breakfast credit, while Standard Rooms remain available from $395.
