THE SCENE: The Junior League of Austin campus was the setting for a night of great food, company, and music. Nearly 300 of the Capital City’s most notable community leaders, music patrons, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for the 5th Annual Maestro’s Dream. Benefiting the Austin Symphony Orchestra, the Journey Through Time-themed night delivered touching tributes, beautiful musical performances, and a special 2026-2027 season announcement that left the room abuzz long after the festivities ended.

THE VIBE: The black-tie optional crowd featured patrons in an array of artful, festive looks that, per the invitation, allowed them to wear formal looks from their favorite cultural eras. In the crowd, one could spot suits, tuxedos, cocktail dresses, and ballgowns that seamlessly blended throughout the room. Patrons took the opportunity to don an elegant mix of classic looks, bold colors, vibrant prints, and metallics, creating a festive and welcoming environment for all who attended.

From the second guests entered the Junior League building, they knew they were in for a special evening. Many took the opportunity to pose in front of a stunning silver mylar balloon arch erected outside the building, which offered guests a fun, unique photo backdrop. Patrons then gathered inside to indulge in the night’s festivities.

Kicking off things was a lively cocktail hour in the Junior League foyer. After guests cozied up to the bar to grab their favorite spirit, they mingled through the crowd, connecting with old friends and making new ones in the process. During cocktail hour, many could be seen perusing the impressive array of silent auction items up for bid, while others headed to the step-and-repeat to take red-carpet images commemorating the night.

Revelers then headed to the Junior League ballroom for dinner and the main program. The room was transformed into a vibrant, cheery space with bold blue tablecloths and gold charivari chairs that perfectly complemented the elegant votives and centerpieces featuring bouquets of pink and purple hues.

Liz Zimmerman served as emcee, entertaining the crowd and keeping the festivities flowing at a fun, brisk pace throughout the night. As patrons dined on their delectable, multi-course meals, they were treated to words from event and organization leaders thanking them for taking part in such a special evening. This included honoring the Women’s Symphony League of Austin for their continued patronage and support of the Austin Symphony Orchestra since the League’s founding in 1953.

Capping off the night was a special musical performance conducted by Austin Symphony Orchestra conductor Peter Bay. Upon conclusion of the performance, it was announced that the 2026-2027 season will feature a special concert with internationally acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma, which will serve as a Grand Finale for Bay, who will be retiring as Austin Symphony Orchestra Conductor in 2027.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 5th Annual Maestro’s Dream, chaired by Jeani Smith, raised over $400,000 for the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s artistic programs, music education, and community outreach initiatives in the Austin area, enhancing the cultural quality of life for adults and young people in Central Texas.
