THE SCENE: The Hildebrand Equine Center at Texas A&M University served as the backdrop for one of the Brazos Valley’s most anticipated annual philanthropic events. Approximately 450 community leaders, advocates, and supporters gathered for the 12th Annual Great American Steak Out benefiting Scotty’s House, the region’s Child Advocacy Center.

Guests enjoyed an evening filled with connection, generosity, and spirited fundraising as attendees came together to support services for children and families across the Brazos Valley. By the end of the night, the event raised more than $630,000, helping Scotty’s House continue its mission of serving children impacted by abuse and crime. Presenting sponsors for the evening were Rebecca and Bill Vaughn, whose support helped make the evening possible.

THE VIBE: The energy throughout the evening was warm, lively, and purposeful. Guests mingled during cocktail hour, browsing an exciting lineup of silent and live auction packages, before gathering for the evening program.

Among the most talked-about packages was Dinner and Diamonds, which featured a stunning $20,000 three-diamond bracelet stack from David Gardner’s Jewelers paired with a private dinner for twelve in The Republic Steakhouse’s intimate speakeasy. The luxury experience quickly became one of the evening’s top-performing auction items.

Another fan-favorite was A Texas Night at Home, offering the winning bidder a home-cooked dinner prepared by Texas country singer-songwriter Brandon Rhyder, followed by a private acoustic concert in the comfort of their own home. The one-of-a-kind experience sparked enthusiastic bidding from guests eager to bring the unforgettable evening to their own doorstep.

Music and entertainment also played a starring role throughout the night. Guests enjoyed live music from The Houston Ensemble, while Brandon Rhyder delivered a special performance during the VIP Party. The evening also featured an exciting raffle that kept attendees engaged and added another layer of excitement to the festivities.

THE HEARTFELT MOMENT: One of the most emotional highlights of the evening came during the “Raise Your Paw” Fund-a-Cause moment. Held in honor of Sawyer, Scotty’s House’s beloved Facility Dog, who recently passed away after eight years of service, the tribute celebrated the comfort and calm Sawyer brought to children during some of their most difficult moments.

The moving moment inspired extraordinary generosity from the crowd, raising over $250,000 to directly support the services Scotty’s House provides to children and families throughout the region.

THE NON-PROFIT: Scotty’s House serves as the Brazos Valley’s Child Advocacy Center, providing a safe and supportive space for child victims of crime. While not a shelter, the organization works closely with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and medical professionals to ensure children receive coordinated care during investigations.

Since opening its doors in 1995, Scotty’s House has remained committed to reducing the trauma children experience during the investigative process while helping them begin their journey toward healing. Funds raised from the Great American Steak Out help ensure these critical services remain available to children and families across the Brazos Valley when they need them most.
