THE SCENE: The Omni Houston Hotel was the recent setting for an event that celebrated a major milestone, showcasing its broad impact on the city. Several hundred of the area’s most notable community leaders, educators, sociables, and philanthropists were on hand for the annual Bicycle Ball. Benefiting CYCLE Houston, the night had much to celebrate as the organization celebrated its 200,000th bike being given to a child in the Houston area.

THE VIBE: The black-tie optional crowd featured an elegant mix of evening and formal attire. In the crowd, one could spot cocktail dresses, ballgowns, tuxedos, and suits in an array of colors, serving as a youthful nod to the children who benefit from CYCLE Houston’s services. The result was a festive, happy, and warm atmosphere for all attendees.

Kicking off the evening was an opportunity to pose on the Bicycle Red Carpet. Here, patrons had the chance to pose for images commemorating the evening, along with the coveted 200,000th bike, which would be auctioned later in the evening. Partygoers then proceeded to the Omni Ballroom Foyer for cocktail hour. Here, guests sipped their favorite spirits and reminisced about many great milestones the organization had achieved, leading them to celebrate its latest accomplishment.

The festivities then gathered in the Omni Ballroom for the main program. As revelers enjoyed delectable, multi-course meals, they were treated to words from organization and event leaders thanking them for their tireless support over the years and for helping so many students in the Houston area.

Capping off the night was the successful auctioning of the famed 200,000th bicycle, which was sold for $10.000. Partygoers then headed to the dance floor, cutting a rug to favorite music tunes in glee and happiness at another successful fundraising event in Houston.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2025 Bicycle Ball, chaired by Miguel Angel Hernandez, raised funds for CYCLE Houston. Proceeds raised from the event will go towards its mission of improving literacy for second-grade students in Title 1 schools. Since its founding, CYCLE Houston has given over 200,000 bicycles to students who commit to improving their reading skills. Funds from this year’s event will enable the assistance of 3,500 students in their Read to Ride program in 2026.
