There are a lot of SUVs to choose from, we get to drive them all, but GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate really offers the most overall comfort, utility, and capability of anything we have driven in the last year. If you want a full-size SUV that’s more than a hauling appliance, more than a suburban status symbol, and decidedly more useful than “just another crossover,” the Yukon earns its seat at the table.
From the moment you walk around it, you sense the AT4 Ultimate isn’t apologizing for its size. At over 210 inches long, this is presence you can’t ignore. Its grille and styling cues quietly speak to rugged intention, while the stance and wheel treatment promise confidence on pavement or off-road.
GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate: Power With Poise
Power comes from GMC’s 6.2-liter V8 that’s rated at around 420 horsepower and 460 lb-feet of torque. That’s the heart of this trim: burly, smooth, and composed. The 10-speed automatic transmission partners well with it, building momentum without fuss whether you’re merging onto a highway ahead of traffic or towing a trailer toward a trailhead.
Where many SUVs this size wobble between heavy and lumbering, the GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate feels assured. Inside, the GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate’s cabin is where rugged utility meets upscale comfort. GMC’s choice of Obsidian Rush full-grain leather and premium materials gives the interior texture and presence without sounding like an overt luxury brand trying too hard. Every touchpoint feels purposeful: seats that hug you on long drives, controls that are intuitive rather than overdone, and space that can swallow luggage or outdoor gear without complaint.
GMC equips the AT4 Ultimate with a tech suite that holds its own against more premium competitors: connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, advanced driver-assistance systems, adaptive cruise, wireless charging, and an excellent audio setup are all in the mix. Super Cruise hands-free driving tech is available, elevating long-distance comfort even further.
Seating for seven with third-row legroom that still leaves space for adults, plus cargo volume that handles long weekends and long vacations, makes this Yukon feel as practical as it does impressive. If you opted for second-row captain’s chairs with heated, ventilated, and massaging functionality, you’ve got back-seat real estate that rivals some premium sedans.

What separates the AT4 Ultimate from a plain-Jane full-size SUV is how it performs when playgrounds aren’t just paved boulevards. Should You Buy A Yukon AT4?
The GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate is a finely tuned balance of brute capability and civilized living. It does not pretend to be slight or compact, nor does it flirt with pretension. Instead, it embraces its full-size identity, refines it, and sends it out poised to go anywhere with confidence and style. Many in the automotive commentator community like to point out that you likely won’t be towing everyday, or moving 7 people, but I see the case for the Yukon. If you are going to spend around $100,000 on a vehicle, why not get one that can really do it all. Need to haul the family one week and tow your friend’s boat the next? The Yukon does it. Need a vehicle you can pick up a client in at the airport and drive take the kids off-road for a scouting trip? The Yukon does it, and it does’ better than many of the more expensive luxury off-roaders we have tested. Plus if you live in a rural community like I do, you have a GMC dealer nearby, no need to drive to a major city to get your INEOS or Land Rover serviced.
If your life demands space, power, terrain versatility, and serious comfort without embarrassment, this Yukon is a commanding choice in the full-size segment. It’s a real SUV for real roads and real adventures, and it wears that badge with integrity.
