THE SCENE: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, was the setting for one of Texas’ most anticipated Fall fundraising events. Over 300 of Houston’s most notable art patrons, community leaders, sociables, and philanthropists attended the Grand Gala Ball. The night featured great food, art, conversation, and the celebration of a new endowment courtesy of one of the organization’s longtime patrons.

THE VIBE: The formal-attire crowd featured an elegant mix of black-tie and white-tie ensembles. In the crowd, one could spot traditional formal wear, while others donned metallics, jewel tones, and bold prints. The result was an artful, festive crowd that was both vibrant and welcoming.

The festivities began with a lively cocktail hour. Guests arrived in grand style through a tent draped in deep blue linens with elegantly lit candles that gave the space a beautiful, angelic blue hue. The blue theme continued as guests arrived for a lively cocktail reception. Here, patrons sipped on their favorite spirits while mingling with the crowd. Others decided to catch up more intimately with friends and sat on luxe, white banquette seating. When the dinner bell rang, guests made their way to the next part of the evening.

As guests arrived at Cullinan Hall, jaws dropped at the magnificent splendor of the space. The Events Company transformed the space into a majestic wonderland. The room featured elegant trees and white and green florals that complemented the crisp, white linens on the table. Anchoring the space was a stunning array of chandeliers that dangled above the dance floor, which patrons would enjoy later.

Guests then took to their seats for a delectable, European-inspired multi-course meal courtesy of City Kitchen. As guests enjoyed their meals, elegant background music played courtesy of the Manhattan Orchestra, which added an extra layer of sophisticated ambiance to the room.

The highlight of the night was paying tribute to J. Venn Leeds for his passionate, longtime support of the museum. The night celebrated the establishment of a new endowment: The Jan and J. Venn Leeds Grand Gala Ball Operating Endowment, ensuring one of Houston’s most iconic fundraising events will continue to inspire and dazzle for generations to come.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2025 Grand Gala Ball raised over $1.65 million for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Proceeds raised from the event will go toward supporting the annual operating budget at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, to fulfill the organization’s mission to connect the communities of Houston and beyond with diverse histories of art spanning 5,000 years and six continents. MFAH achieves this through its offering of world-class permanent collections, interpretive programs, studio instruction, publications, conservation, and scholarly research.
