THE SCENE: The Clay Family Eastern Glades at Memorial Park was the recent setting for one of Houston’s most anticipated events al fresco. Nearly 350 of the city’s most notable conservationists, outdoor enthusiasts, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for The Park Ball. Benefiting Memorial Park Conservancy, the night under the stars kicked off its second century as Houston’s premier outdoor space, dazzling the crowd throughout and leaving them wanting more.

THE VIBE: The “Garden Cocktail” attire had guests donning their happiest colors and prints in honor of spring. In the crowd, one could spot patrons donning every color under the rainbow. Many wore floral prints in a nod to capture the beauty of nature that surrounded them.

The night began with a cocktail hour, as the well-heeled guests gathered around the bar to enjoy their favorite spirit of choice and the early evening air. The conversation flowed as freely as the spirits and smiles around them.

Guests then took to their seats for dinner. The Events Company transformed the Clay Family Eastern Glades into a stunning springtime landscape. A beautiful mix of floral and coral tablecloths, along with seasonal flowers, perfectly complemented the wood-backed chairs, creating an elevated, rustic garden experience.

After partygoers took to their seats, they were treated to a multi-course meal of gazpacho, a decadent grilled halibut, and a coconut panna cotta courtesy of City Kitchen Catering. During the program, attendees were treated to words from organization and event leaders.

The program continued by honoring Shellye Arnold for her tireless support of Memorial Park Conservancy. Additionally, Board President Veronica Chapa Gorczunski announced Chris Ballard as Memorial Park Conservancy’s new president and CEO. The night was capped off with tunes courtesy of the David Caceres Orchestra Jazz Quintet.

THE NON-PROFIT: The 2025 Park Ball, co-chaired by Julie and Casey Doherty, Betsy and John Garibaldi, Gayle and Richard Hightower, Tammy and Steven Jenkins, Linda Lorelle and Lou Gregory, Gary Moss, Amy and Adam Newar, Carrie and Al Pepi, Carol and John Porter, & Anita and Gerald Smith raised over $750,000 for the Memorial Park Conservancy. Proceeds raised from The Park Ball will support the daily care of Memorial Park’s 1,100 acres of urban forest, savanna, and prairie, which is also home to hundreds of wildlife and plant species.
