Meet Me At The Waldorf. In the Texas Hill Country, Though?

Raise a glass (preferably a Texas Hill Country vintage) to some exciting news: the Waldorf Astoria is planting its five-star flag deep in the heart of Texas. Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country is set to open in Fredericksburg in 2027, bringing its signature elegance, impeccable service, and a splash of old-world glamour to the rolling hills and vineyard views of Central Texas, according to our Lance Avery Morgan.
The stars at night are about to shine a little brighter in Fredericksburg. Why? Because the legendary Waldorf Astoria is headed to the Texas Hill Country. That’s right—Texas is getting its very first Waldorf Astoria resort, bringing a new level of Lone Star luxury to one of the state’s most beloved destinations.
When my family, one of the thirty founding families of Fredericksburg and the Hill Country, settled the area in the mid-19th century, likely telling them they could live on the moon would not have been as preposterous to them as telling them a luxe Waldorf-branded resort would also make its home in the same area. But alas, time marches on, and progress is made.
“Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country’s signing marks a monumental milestone for Hilton and is integral to both our growth in the state, which represents Hilton’s largest hotel portfolio in the U.S., and Hilton luxury brands portfolio expansion across the Americas,” said Amy King, vice president, luxury & mixed-use development, Hilton. “Conrad Hilton’s legacy in the hotel business began in Texas more than 105 years ago, and working alongside incredible owners, we’re proud to deliver on Conrad’s vision as we introduce our distinguished luxury hotel and residential portfolio in the destination.”

Slated to open in 2027, Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country will be nestled across 106 sun-dappled acres just outside Fredericksburg’s storybook downtown. It’s the news that makes you want to dust off your best boots, book a wine tasting, and start planning your future long weekend—or, perhaps, your forever home.
This elevated escape will combine the brand’s timeless elegance with the warm, rustic beauty of Central Texas, delivering a resort experience that’s both authentically Texan and unmistakably Waldorf. Designed in collaboration between Studio CABAN, FAB Studio, TIPLER Group, Studio Outside, and Paul Duesing Partners, the resort will be a refined haven for all visitors set against the backdrop of the breathtaking countryside. Accommodations will feature authentically Texan design elements with sprawling views of the surrounding Hill Country and multi-room resort villas catering to individual residents. They will also be available for guest rentals, with private plunge pools, outdoor courtyards, and specialty programming.
A Look Inside the Resort: Refined, Meet Rustic
Spread out over 106 acres just minutes from Fredericksburg’s charming downtown, this isn’t your cousin’s weekend rental. The Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country will feature:
- 60 thoughtfully appointed hotel rooms and suites, where modern luxury meets heritage-inspired design.
- 37 multi-bedroom resort villas, perfect for families, friends, or just anyone who believes space is the ultimate indulgence. (74 total keys, for those doing the math.)
- 50 private branded residences for those who fall hopelessly in love with the lifestyle—and want to stay a little longer. Or forever.
That’s just the beginning.
Wellness, Waldorf-Style
Wellness gets the royal treatment with an 11,000-square-foot spa and fitness sanctuary that blends Hill Country healing with modern-day serenity. Think locally sourced botanicals, panoramic views from your massage table, and the kind of deep tissue relief that makes you forget you ever owned a phone.
Dining: Five Ways to Savor the Hill Country
Fredericksburg may already be known for its culinary charm, but the Waldorf is raising the bar—and the wine glass—with five distinct dining concepts. Expect everything from elegant fine dining to relaxed alfresco experiences, all drawing inspiration from local farms, seasonal ingredients, and the region’s rich German heritage.
Picture a chef’s tasting menu paired with award-winning Texas wines, or a leisurely brunch overlooking a vineyard, with the sun gently warming your table and a mimosa in hand.

A Toast to the Location
Speaking of vineyards, this is no ordinary country retreat. Fredericksburg has blossomed into a world-class wine destination, home to over 100 wineries, tasting rooms, and vineyards. Add in boutique shops, historic buildings, peach orchards, and sweeping Hill Country views, and you have a setting that’s equal parts charm and chic.
It’s no wonder this pocket of Texas has become a favorite for weekenders, honeymooners, and lifestyle dreamers alike. And soon, it will have a luxury resort that matches the land’s magic.
Design that Honors the Land
The aesthetic? We call it Haute Hill Country. Expect authentically Texan design elements—hand-hewn beams, natural limestone, terracotta tones, and subtle nods to the landscape—expertly layered with the refinement and glamour that Waldorf Astoria is known for. It blends high polish and grounded charm: the perfect marriage of cowboy boots and couture.
Events and Experiences with a Twist
Hosting a wedding, corporate retreat, or birthday soirée that everyone actually wants to attend? The event barn and meeting spaces at the resort will be as memorable as the events themselves. They are designed with upscale touches and flexible layouts that celebrate the scenery as much as the guest list.
Add in two resort-style pools for sun-soaked afternoons, private cabanas for stolen moments of calm, and scenic walking trails that meander through live oaks and wildflowers, and you’ve got more than a resort. You’ve got a way of life.
Coming Soon to a Vineyard Near You
With its 2027 debut, Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country will reimagine what it means to escape to Texas wine country by combining the sophistication of a global brand with the warmth and wonder of one of the state’s most naturally beautiful regions.
So, keep Fredericksburg on your radar whether you’re planning your dream vacation, your next chapter, or simply your next glass of Viognier. Soon, Texas luxury will have a new address, and it will start with “W.”
