THE SETTING: River Oaks Country Club was the setting for one of the city’s most anticipated and best-attended annual luncheons. A sold-out crowd featuring over 500 of the city’s most notable community leaders, sociables, fashionistas, and philanthropists turned out for the 20th annual Salvation Army Women’s Auxilary of Houston’s Reflections on Style Luncheon that featured a Girls with Pearls theme.

THE VIBE: The cocktail attire crowd began the day shopping in the pop-up boutique for pre-loved luxury clothes, shoes, handbags, and jewelry that included items from such iconic designers as Valentino, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta and Naeem Khan. The luncheon kicked off the opening of the four-day boutique sale that drew over 2,000 people during that time.

Guests then took their seats in the venue’s ballroom for the main program. As revelers dined on their lunches they were treated to words from event leaders all in celebration of the successful luncheons the organization has hosted over the past 20 years. This year also featured a very special distinguished honoree, Michelle Bain. Bain, who has remained a longtime supporter of the Auxiliary, set the tone for a luncheon that showcases the very best of what the Houston fundraising scene has to offer: style and substance.

THE NON-PROFIT: The Reflection on Style Luncheon, co-chaired by Lilly Andress and Ann Bookout, raised $1.2 million for the Salvation Army Houston Area Command. Proceeds that were raised from the event will go toward providing programs including youth programs, disaster relief, shelter, counseling, rehabilitation and senior programs. Each year, nearly 30 million people in the United States rely on assistance programs from The Salvation Army.
