THE SCENE: The Empire Room in Dallas’s Design District was the recent setting for one of the city’s most fun holiday fundraising events. Several hundred of the city’s most notable sociables, community leaders, and fashionistas turned it out for the 29th annual DIFFA Holiday Wreath Collection. The night featured good friends, holiday cheer, and an impressive collection of designer and avant-garde wreaths perfect for any stylish door or window.
THE VIBE: The cocktail chic crowd featured a fun mix of holiday and vintage 60’s ensembles which created a welcoming environment for all. As guests walked up to the entrance of The Empire Room, they knew they were in for a very special evening. Situated outside the main entrance was Santa in his sleigh complete with one of his reindeer. After revelers posed for a commemorative photo with the guest of honor, they headed inside to the cocktail-style reception.
Against the backdrop of tunes by DJ Shane Allen, guests mingled in the loft-inspired space where old friends visited and new friends were made as perused an artfully installed collection of over 70 wreaths, all created by designers from Dallas, Texas, and beyond including BuDha Girl/Jennifer Miller, Starbucks, Brad Pritchett and David Chad, OKA, and Holiday Warehouse. Partygoers staked their claim at their favorite fabulously decorated wreaths with some healthy competition that drove up the bids for these one-of-a-kind pieces that drove the prices way up.
Additionally, guests also perused an impressive array of additional silent auctions including bespoke experiences, libations, and more. Others who appreciate the element of surprise took part in Santa’s Secret Gift Pull where attendees were able to choose a gift under the Christmas tree valued at $50-100. The festivities were capped off with words from DIFFA and event leaders highlighting the mission and the fun everyone had on this magical late autumn evening.
THE NON-PROFIT: The event, co-chaired by Ken Weber and Steve Lopez, raised funds for DIFFA Dallas. Proceeds raised from DIFFA Wreath Collection will benefit grant recipients of several North Texas AIDS Services Organizations.
