Austin resident and The Go-Go’s lead bass guitarist rock star Kathy Valentine is beyond multi-talented. With her musical career in the band as a performer and writer, she has been the toast of Broadway with the group’s Head Over Heels production and her memoir, All I Ever Wanted. Soon, from August 9- September 10, she’ll be a part of the ZACH Theater production of Head Over Heels in Austin. Here, Lance Avery Morgan catches up with the stylish busy mom, musician and entrepreneur.

I became a musician…to meet cool guys.

How I made my first dollar…was babysitting, at the age of 9. Who leaves their infant with a 3rd grader?

What everyone should try in their lifetime is…traveling alone or taking a holiday alone.

My style icon is…Anita Pallenberg.

Book that left a lasting impression on me…so many, yet I loved The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle.

If I could live in a foreign city it would be…London.

My one must-have clothing item has to be…James Perse side panel shirts.

One thing I am exceptionally good at that most might not know iswriting.

One thing I am especially bad at is…dancing. I am a terrible dancer.

The beauty essential you’d have to pry out of my cold, dead hands is…Sisley’s Emulsion Ecologique.

First album I bought…was The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street

The best gift I have given recently is…a smile to passing strangers.

My favorite street in the world is…Rue Mouffetard, 5th Arrondissement, Paris.

My perfect day would end…with a view, sunset to stars, or night lit city scape.
