THE SETTING: The University of Texas Golf Club in Austin was the setting for an evening of fun and fundraising for a very worthy cause. Approximately 280 of the Capital City’s top community leaders, health advocates, sociables, and philanthropists turned out for the Champions to CureDuchenne: Disco for Duchenne Gala.
THE VIBE: The Saturday Night Fever theme meant the crowd donned their best disco-chic attire that created a fun, welcoming, and party-like environment for everyone. Revelers wore their favorite glasses, sequined gowns, sport coats, polyester, and plenty of ruffles. The fun began with a cocktail hour where patrons sipped on their favorite spirits and mingled with friends.
Partygoers then took to their seats for the main program. In keeping with the disco theme, tables were draped in sequin tablecloths that kept the party vibes and energy high. Emcee and KXAN Meteorologist Jim Spencer served as emcee, keeping the crowd engaged and entertained throughout the night. While dining on delectable multi-course meals, attendees were treated to words from organizational leaders as well touching testimonials from families dealing with Duchenne. Other program highlights included a raffle and after party where the fun continued well into the night.
THE NON-PROFIT: The Champions to CureDuchenne: Disco for Duchenne Gala raised over $385,000 for CureDuchenne. Proceeds raised from the event will go toward assisting families impacted by Duchenne. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a 100% fatal disease and affects 1 in 5000 boys. Since its founding, CureDuchenne has raised over $6.6 million through various collective fundraising efforts.
